Drug dealer behind bars

Crime Prevention members while patrolling in Hlohlolwane received a tip off that at a certain house someone is selling dagga to school children.

At the scene the police confiscated about 10 kg of dagga that was hidden inside a house and a 34-year-old suspect was arrested. He was charged with dealing in dagga and will appear before the Clocolan magistrate court soon.

The police launch a search operation to locate a missing teenager

The South African Police Service in Mphephu outside Thohoyandou in the Vhembe District, have launched a search operation to locate a missing teenager who allegedly went missing at Raliphaswa village on Friday, 14 January 2022 at about 05:50 in the morning.

It is alleged that Ramuada Masindi aged 14, who is a scholar at Makungwi Primary School, went to school in the morning and never came back home

Members of the family went out immediately looking for her unsuccessfully until they reported the matter to the Police.

Subsequently, the joint operation was conducted in and around the area including at the relatives and friends by the South African Police Service, family members and several other role players but all in vain.

The clothes which the victim was wearing are unknown at this stage

The Police investigations and search operations are still underway.

Eden Cluster arrests 204 suspects during weekend crime combatting operations

Concerted efforts by Police in the Eden Cluster in the Garden Route District to combat and eradicate crime successfully through the strategic deployment of integrated forces ensured that 204 suspects were arrested between Friday, 14 January 2022 and Sunday morning16 January 2022 at 06:00. Of these arrests, one hundred and forty four (144) were arrested for reported crime committed during the mentioned period of two days. These arrests represent various criminal offences, ranging from petty to more serious offence. These arrests also represents eleven (11) suspects and eight (8) warrants of arrests that was executed.

This weekend’s operations included high visibility blue light patrols in crime stricken areas, roadblocks, stop and search operations with a special focus on drug and liquor outlets, illegal firearms, the tracing of wanted suspects and the confiscation of dangerous weapons. Most of the arrested suspects will make their court appearance in the local magistrates’ court tomorrow, Monday, 17 January 2022, once charged whilst others were released on a warning to appear in court at a later stage or pay an admission of guild fine for minor transgressions.

Intelligence driven operations led integrated forces to Conville, Ladismith, Oudtshoorn and Ladismith where a substantial amount of drugs were seized and few arrest were affected.

In Conville near George, the local Crime Prevention Unit, assisted by the Eden Cluster Crime Combatting Team, pounced on a known drug outlet on Friday, 14 January 2022 in Luister Street, Conville in George where they executed a search warrant. With the search that ensued members found 17 small Dagga bankies and 3-stops of Dagga, 14 Boss Mandrax tablets, 14 bankies of Tik and a small amount of cash. The 36-year-old suspect that was arrested had been charged with Dealing in Drugs and will appear in the George Magistrates’ on Monday, 17 January 2022.

In Ladismith local Visible Policing members arrested two dealers, one dealing in Liquor and another dealing in Drugs at two different locations in Zoar just outside Ladismith.

A 73-year-old suspect residing in Protea Park, Zoar was found in possession of a large amount of liquor during a clandestine operation following the purchasing of liquor at the premises. The 73-year-old was arrested and later paid an admission of Guild fine of R2500.00.

Members also executed a search warrant at a premises situated in Piketberg, a location in Zoar Ladismith where they found and confiscated 186 Mandrax tablets and 20 grams of Tik stashed in small bankies. A 47-year-old suspect was arrested who is scheduled to appear in the Ladismith magistrates’ court tomorrow, Monday, 17 January 2022.

Eden Acting Cluster Commander, Brigadier Phumzile Cetyana has praised the members for their dedication to safeguard communities within their area. The confiscation illicit Drugs during the weekend also contributed to the prevention of serious crime such as murder and assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, he said.

Western Cape Provincial Management commended the members for their vigilance in bringing these perpetrators to book. Combined and integrated operations will continue throughout and beyond the festive season with the focus on the restart of the Western Cape School year.s

Suspect due to appear in court for dealing in drugs and corruption

MPUMALANGA – On Thursday 13 January 2022, the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation based in Secunda received information via a reliable source about a drug dealer who was packaging drugs inside his vehicle (VW Polo silver in colour) at Secunda taxi rank.

The member immediately requested assistance of Secunda Vispol to urgently attend to the information. On arrival of Secunda Vispol members, the suspect was found busy packaging the drugs for distribution purposes. The following drugs were found and seized: rock cocaine in clear plastic packets, nyaope wrapped in brown plastics and crystal meth in clear plastic packets.

The suspect was placed under arrest whereby he then took out R680 from his pocket and tried to bribe the two SAPS members in order to be released but the members refused and added the charge of corruption. The suspect was taken to the police station where the members of Serious Organised Crime proceed and detained him. The exhibits inclusive of the vehicle were booked in Secunda for further investigation.

The suspect will appear before the Secunda Magistrate Court on Monday 17 January 2022. Investigation continues.

Wanted suspect arrested for court evasion

MPUMALANGA – The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation based in Nelspruit have on Friday 14 January 2022 executed Warrant of arrest to Rogerio Domingos Moiane (52) during his court appearance at Delmas Magistrate Court for a bail judgement on Possession of rhino horn case.

The accused was initially arrested in March 2016 at Kaapmuiden for Possession of unlicensed firearm (Rifle) with silencer and ammunitions. The accused made several court appearances and later was released on bail but never returned in court and warrant of his arrest was issued.

In October 2021, the accused while out on bail and sort for evading court was found at Delmas N12 in Possession of rhino horn, he was then arrested, charged and detained at Modderbee Prison whilst attending at Delmas Court for bail application whereby the case was postponed to 24 February 2022 for further investigation.

The accused was also served with warrant of arrest for Kaapmuiden case, and he is expected to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate Court on Monday, 17 January 2022. Investigation continues.

UN releases “Sport for Peace” stamps to celebrate 2022 Winter Olympic Games

The UN Postal Administration (UNPA) released the new “Sport for Peace” stamps to celebrate the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

The UNPA said in a press release that it is the first time that it has issued stamps for the Olympic Winter Games.

The stamps feature hockey players, snowboarders, figure skaters, bobsledders, curlers; and Alpine Skiers.

The stamps were illustrated by Chinese illustrator Feifei Ruan and designed by UN designer Rorie Katz.

Customers can visit unstamps.org to purchase these stamps and others or learn more about United Nations stamps. They can also visit the UNPA stamp shops in New York, Geneva and Vienna where the stamps can be used for mailing.

The XXIV Olympic Winter Games are scheduled to take place from Feb 4 to 20 in Beijing, China.

In December 2021, the UN General Assembly adopted the Olympic Truce for Beijing 2022, highlighting the contribution of sport to the promotion of peace and solidarity.

The resolution entitled “Building a peaceful and better world through sport and the Olympic ideal” calls for the observance of the Olympic Truce for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Beijing 2022, from seven days before the start of the Olympic Games, on Feb. 4 2022, until seven days after the end of the Paralympic Games.

The Olympic Games provide a meaningful opportunity to harness the power of sport to foster an atmosphere of peace, development, resilience, tolerance, and understanding among nations.
