Despite scaling up action against NCDs over the past few years, Botswana’s progress toward addressing them has mainly been lacklustre. While there might be several reasons for this limited success, the absence of bold policy commitments is believed to be one of the main reasons for the partial progress in NCD prevention and management. OCTA notes uptick in Metro Manila COVID cases

Metro Manila saw a slight increase in new COVID-19 cases over the past week, although it remained at low risk of another outbreak as of April 30. The independent monitor group OCTA Research said the seven-day average in new cases in Metro Manila rose by 7 percent to 85 daily infections for the period April 24 to 30, from the previous week’s 79 cases. Kenya delays talks on 15pc cut in power bills

The State is yet to open talks for a review of power purchase agreements signed over the years by Kenya Power, signalling further delay of the promised electricity bill cut for homes and businesses by 15 percent. Independent power producers (IPPs) revealed on Thursday they were yet to receive invitations for talks on cutting wholesale power prices and ultimately lower consumer bills. MORE revelations have emerged on the last few days of the late monarch, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, Alaafin of Oyo, during which he regaled loved ones with tales of death. According to Dr Festus Adedayo, who is acknowledged in the palace as one of Alaafin’s adopted sons, the late Oba was all about death during his last visit to him in the palace.
