Suspect arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm, ammunition and drugs

On Thursday afternoon, 2 June 2022, members of the Stabilisation team were patrolling around Motlhabeng village outside Mahikeng when they spotted a suspicious vehicle.

The said vehicle was stopped and searched. Although nothing illegal was found during the search, the driver led the police to a certain house where he alleged there were suspected drug dealing activities.

On arrival at the identified house, the members found a plastic bag containing white powder suspected to be drugs and a firearm with 25 live ammunition hidden and wrapped in a black plastic bag. Moreover, the suspect, aged 24, failed to produce a license for the firearm which the serial number was filed off. He was thus, arrested.

The estimated street value of the drugs is R4000.00.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Molopo Magistrates’ Court in Mmabatho on Monday, 6 February 2022.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena expressed gratitude to the members for their efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and illegal proliferation of firearms.

Partnership policing leads to the arrest of a suspect for tampering with essential infrastructure in Primrose

On Friday, 03 June 2022 members of SAPS Primrose with the assistance of a security officer arrested a 32-year-old suspect for tampering with essential infrastructure.

A preliminary report suggests that a security officer was out patrolling along Main Reef and Stanhope roads when he noticed two males busy cutting electric cable which is connected to a traffic light.

The security guard apprehended one suspect while the other suspect managed to evade arrest.

SAPS Booysens members apprehend two suspects and recover three unlicensed firearms following an armed robbery

On Friday night, 03 June 2022, members of SAPS Booysens arrested two suspects and recovered three unlicensed firearms.

According to a preliminary report the suspects allegedly robbed a business premises in Booysens and fired gun shots before fleeing the scene. One patron was hit by a bullet and taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Within minutes the police detected the suspects’ vehicle and conducted a search which resulted in the recovery of three unlicensed firearms with filed off serial numbers.

The SAPS members arrested two suspects for possession of unlicensed firearm, armed robbery and attempted murder.
