WINDHOEK – The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) introduced a 5G consumer awareness campaign on Tuesday, focusing on educating the public about the benefits and realities of 5G technology.
According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the campaign will address common myths and inform the public about the various opportunities 5G offers in sectors like tourism, health, education, and more. Nghikembua pointed out that 5G technology is similar to existing wireless technologies in terms of data transmission and does not pose unique health risks. The month-long campaign, which will include social media posts, radio ads, and newspaper articles, aims to foster understanding about 5G’s integration into various industries and its role in driving digital transformation. By clarifying the nature of 5G technology, CRAN seeks to bridge the digital divide and promote technological innovation in Namibia.

Rani Supports Northern Police with Refreshment Donation in Ongwediva


ONGWEDIVA – The Namibian Police Force’s regional commanders in Oshana, Ohangwena, Oshikoto, and Omusati have pledged to maintain a strong presence during the festive season to combat crime. This commitment was made at a donation event on Tuesday, where Rani Company contributed soft drinks worth N.dollars 40,000 to aid the police’s efforts.
According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the donation, distributed at the Oshiko roadblock, is meant to ensure police officers stay hydrated and well-supported throughout their operations. Each region will receive drinks valued at N.dollars 10,000 for use at their roadblocks during the safety operation, which commenced on November 17, 2023, and will continue until January 17, 2024. Dharani emphasized the importance of well-being for police officers, especially since they have been continuously active since the COVID-19 outbreak. Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, the Regional Commander of Oshana Namibian Police Force, expressed gratitude for the timely donation, ensuring that it will be managed effectively to cater to all officers during their shifts.

KHARAS – Aletha Frederick, Governor of Kharas, emphasized the significance of academic dialogue in shaping sustainable economic development strategies during the University of Namibia’s faculty of commerce, management, and law research symposium. The event, held under the theme ‘Economic recovery and resilience’, focused on leveraging academic research to inform policymaking. According to Frederick, research provides a crucial foundation for understanding economic recovery and resilience, offering empirical evidence and theoretical insights for effective strategy formulation. She underscored the role of research in addressing challenges in economies aiming for recovery and sustainability, particularly in areas like inclusive growth and economic resilience.

The symposium served as a platform for exchanging ideas and solutions, with various speakers, including UNAM executive dean for commerce, Jacob Nyambe, who advocated for cost-effective, problem-solving academic programs. OSHAKATI – Hope Football Club has emerged as the leader of the Oshana Regional Namibia Football Association (NFA) Women’s Football League, maintaining an unbeaten streak after its latest weekend victories. The league’s Public Relations Officer, Felisberto Pedarè Da Silva, informed Nampa on Tuesday that the league is now down to six clubs following the withdrawal of Onelago Beauties FC and Victoria Andimba FC due to financial issues. Da Silva called for increased corporate and individual support to enhance the league’s competitiveness and support aspiring young female footballers.

Hope FC secured the top spot after defeating Oshakati Super Stars FC and Teenage Queens FC. Meanwhile, Mighty Angels FC scored the most goals over the weekend, securing victories against Teenage Angels FC and Oshana NamPol FC. Bakpro Millennial Queens FC also performed well, earning four points after a win against Oshana NamPol and a draw with Oshakati Super Stars FC. Currently, Hope FC leads the league with nine points, followed closely by Mighty Angels FC with seven points. Bakpro Oshana Millennial Queens are in fourth place with the same number of points but having played an additional game. Oshana NamPol and Teenage Queens are at the bottom of the table, each with one point. The league champions will advance to the playoffs, vying for a spot in the national NFA Women
‘s Super League.

President Geingob Addresses Criticism of International Travel


WINDHOEK – President Hage Geingob, in his annual press briefing at State House, responded to media criticism regarding his and his ministers’ international travels, emphasizing the importance of focusing on substantive issues. Geingob clarified that international travel is a part of his mandate to serve the Namibian nation, not motivated by monetary benefits. He refuted allegations suggesting that he and his cabinet members travel to gain from travel and subsistence allowances, underscoring his commitment to public service.

Julia Endjambi Re-Elected as Mayor of Oshikuku


OSHIIKUKU – Julia Endjambi has been re-elected as the mayor of Oshikuku during the town council’s interim elections held on Tuesday. Petrus Petrus will serve as the deputy mayor, while Linus Mingeli, Veronica Mwenyo, and Williams Sheende retain their positions on the management committee. Petrus Nambinga and Rosalia Kalimbo continue as ordinary council members. In her acceptance speech, Endjambi emphasized the importance of serving the Oshikuku community with equality, commitment, and dedication.
