Man Detained for Alleged Rape of Ex-Girlfriend at Riverside Location


Bethanie, Namibia: A 41-year-old man was apprehended on Saturday in Bethanie for the alleged rape of his 38-year-old ex-girlfriend. The incident reportedly occurred at Riverside location, spanning from Friday evening to Saturday morning.



According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the suspect allegedly assaulted and dragged the victim to his house, where he forced himself on her several times. The victim reported that their relationship had ended, a claim contested by the suspect, who insists they are still together. Namibian Police Force (NamPol) Spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, confirmed that the suspect is scheduled to appear before the Bethanie Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.



In a separate case in Katima Mulilo, a 27-year-old man voluntarily surrendered to the police after allegedly breaking into a house and raping a 19-year-old woman on Saturday. The suspect, now facing charges of rape, housebreaking with intent to rape, and assault by threatening, is accused of cutting the chain of a padlock to gain entry into the house. The victim, along with her two friends and two younger brothers, were asleep at the time of the incident.



The attack in Katima Mulilo took place around 3:00 am, as reported by Shikwambi. The suspect reportedly threatened the occupants, claiming he would shoot them if they screamed. He then allegedly pulled the victim from her bed and raped her on a mattress where her younger siblings were sleeping. The suspect is expected to appear before the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Two Women Victimized in Separate Incidents of Rape and Robbery


Swakopmund, Namibia: In two separate but equally horrifying incidents, women in Namibia were subjected to rape and robbery in the early hours of Saturday. The first incident occurred in Swakopmund’s Matutura, Mondesa, where a woman was robbed and raped by a man on the main road.



According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the attack in Swakopmund happened between 2:00 and 3:00 am. The perpetrator, wielding a knife, robbed the victim of her possessions valued at N.dollars 1,550. Following the robbery, he forced the victim to perform oral sex and then raped her. Despite the severity of the incident, no arrests have been made, nor have any of the stolen items been recovered.



Simultaneously, in Okahandja, another woman fell victim to a brutal attack. This incident involved a 30-year-old woman who was gang-raped and robbed in a riverbed by two men. The attack reportedly took place around 2:30 am at the Saamstaan location in Okahandja. The victim, walking home from a bar with friends, was assaulted when she momentarily separated from her group. The attackers threatened her with knives, forcing her to comply, and proceeded to rape her. In addition to the sexual assault, the victim was robbed of her black smartwatch and wig, collectively valued at N.dollars 1,000. Although she managed to recover the discarded wig, the smartwatch remains missing, and no arrests have been made in this case either.



These incidents highlight a concerning trend of violent crimes in the region, with the police continuing their investigations to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure public safety.

Spanish Tourists Lose Valuables Worth N.dollars 191,400 in Overnight Robbery


Mokuti Lodge, Namibia: In a distressing event at Mokuti Lodge, a Spanish couple was robbed of possessions valued at approximately N.dollars 191,400. The theft occurred in the early hours of Saturday while the victims were asleep.



According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the crime was reported at the Oshivelo Police Station. The incident unfolded between 1:00 and 5:00 am, during which time the couple was asleep. Upon waking around 5:00 am, the couple discovered their belongings missing and the doors and padlocks of their bedroom and living room forcibly opened.



The stolen items included 150 euros (approximately N.dollars 3,067.22), a Nikon camera 7500, a camera lens, two suitcases filled with clothes, jewelry, sunglasses, toiletries, hair brushes, chargers, wireless earphones, binoculars, a black iPhone 10, a watch, two backpacks, and a handbag. The total estimated value of the stolen goods is N.dollars 191,400.



The couple had checked into the lodge on Thursday around 7:00 am. As of now, no arrests have been made, and none of the stolen items have been recovered. Police continue their investigations into this incident.
