21 Brigade B win women’s football during Kavango Supercup Festival


The 21 Brigade B women ‘ s football team from Rundu on Monday won first place during the fourth edition of the Kavango Supercup Festival , which started at the Rundu Sport Stadium last Thursday . Regarded as one of the fastest – growing sporting events in the region , the Kavango Super Cup Festival is an annual event that showcases multiple sport disciplines . It ends on Sunday . Public Relations and Communications Officer for the competition , Rosvitha Ghunonga told Nampa on Tuesday that there has been a notable increase in team registrations and football , netball , and volleyball are among the festival ‘ s main attractions . Ghunonga said the festival takes place in different phases over two weekends , and kicked off with netball and women ‘ s football on the first day . This was followed by a gospel concert on 31 August . Volleyball and men ‘ s football are set to be held from 06 to 08 September 2024 , when the tournament concludes . All matches will be hosted at the Rundu Sport Stadium . Ghunonga said t
he 21 Brigade B team received a trophy , 25 medals , new kits and N . dollars 15 000 for coming in first place . African Stars Queens who came in second place won a cash prize of N . dollars 10 000 , received new kits and 25 medals . Third place went to 21 Brigade A who won 25 medals and a cash prize of N . dollars 8 000 . In the netball category , UNAM B from Rundu won first place while Ogongo came in second and Cuca Tops in third place . The winning prizes for first , second and third place are the same as the women ‘ s football prizes . Meanwhile Ghunonga said the competition is also considering adding tennis later this year when they will be hosting a marathon and music festival .
