32-Year-Old Suspect Set to Appear in Court for Rape Incident in Mogaladi Village


Sekhukhune: A 32-year-old male suspect is due to appear before the Nebo Magistrate Court on Monday, 24 March 2025, following a rape incident involving a 17-year-old female victim at Mogaladi village on Friday, 21 March 2025, at about 18:00.



According to South African Police Service, the female victim informed her mother about the incident, detailing that a 32-year-old known male she encountered on the street while returning from a friend’s place was responsible. The suspect allegedly brandished a knife and threatened her, demanding she accompany him to his residence. Upon arrival, he reportedly locked her inside, pushed her onto the bed, and raped her.



The victim’s attempt to resist was unsuccessful, and she was unexpectedly assaulted. After the incident, the 17-year-old managed to flee the house but fell, sustaining minor bruises on her thighs and knees. Once home, her family immediately reported the incident to the local authorities, prompting an extensive search for the suspect. He was apprehended the following day at his residence in Mogaladi village on Saturday, 22 March 2025.



The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, expressed approval of the suspect’s arrest and denounced violence against vulnerable individuals, emphasizing that justice must be served without prejudice. “The law must take its course without fear or favour, enough is enough!” stated Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
