Absence of management committee hinders service delivery in ||Kharas: Isaacks

KEETMANSHOOP: Kharas Regional Council chairperson, Joseph Isaacks said the absence of the council management committee has hindered the council from delivering services to the inhabitants of the region.

Isaacks while addressing council staff members here on Tuesday said that over the past eight months, the executive functions of the management committee have not been functional.

The regional council has been without a management committee since December 2022 after the council failed to elect two councillors to join Isaacks on the committee.

‘Our achievements last year were outweighed by the challenges and it is obvious, that the management committee is the core body in the council. We are in a very problematic situation, the absence or suspension of a Chief Regional Officer (CRO) also affected the council in delivering services. For two years we did not have a CRO,’ said Isaacks.

The management committee serves as the decision-making body in the council where resolutions on the developments of the region
are taken.

He noted that while President Hage Geingob declared 2024 as the year of expectations, it is important for employees to note that expectations require hard work and determination adding that expectations are preceded by positive contributions.

‘Is only when you sow, that you can reap, let us work hard and gain the fruits of our labour. In the context of this region, I declare this year as a year of excellence. Success is our motivation and driving force. We don`t need nothing less than success,’ he added.

The chairperson further urged the employees to cater to and serve the inhabitants of the region and warned that the council will not tolerate anyone who is out to frustrate, sabotage and block the progress of the region.

Isaacks stressed that employees should not compromise the hopes, aspirations and ambitions of the people who have placed them into public offices, noting that it is unacceptable that they are excluded from the beneficiation of the economic opportunities in the region.

He calle
d on all the government offices in the region to engage and unlock the developmental programs and projects within their departments to enhance the living standard of the people.
