Argument over N.dollars 5 claims life of Gibeon man

A 25-year-old man is expected to appear in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed to death another man at Gibeon, over N.dollars 5.00.

A weekend crime report by the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) indicated that the incident occurred around 02h30 on Sunday at a local bar in the village.

It is alleged that the suspect stabbed 21-year-old Markus Willem Theodor in the chest with an unknown object during an argument over N.dollars 5.00 owed to him by Theodor.

‘The deceased demanded that the victim pay him immediately and as the deceased could not pay the money back, the suspect stabbed him,’ said the report.

The victim was rushed to the hospital with a private vehicle but died whilst being attended to by nurses.

Meanwhile, police at Swakopmund are investigating a case of murder after a 21-year-old man identified as Ui-Basen Jesley Nowaseb was stabbed to death by an unknown man.

The incident occurred around 00h54 on Saturday in the DRC informal settlement, where the deceased wa
s stabbed with a sharp object and died on the spot.

‘It is alleged that the deceased and his two friends were on their way home from a pub, but the deceased was walking ahead of others when he was intercepted and attacked. Further, it is alleged that the victim and the suspect wrestled for a while before the suspect fled the scene,’ said the report.

All deceased persons’ next of kin are aware of their deaths. Police investigations into all matters continue.
