Suspect to appear in court for the alleged murder of his girlfriend

POTCHEFSTROOM – A 30-year-old man is expected to appear in the Ganyesa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 10 August 2021, in connection with the alleged murder of his 24-year-old girlfriend.

The suspect’s court appearance stems from his apprehension on Friday, 6 August 2021, on a charge of murder. According to information received, the couple that stayed together at their RDP house at Bakola Section in Ganyesa, had an argument on Wednesday, evening, 4 August 2021. That was after the suspect allegedly saw his girlfriend drinking and talking to another man at a tavern in Vryburg.

Subsequent to the quarrel, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim with a spade leading to her sustaining multiple and grievous bodily injuries. According to information at our disposal, upon realising that the girlfriend was dead, the suspect covered the former’s body with a blanket and pushed it beneath the bed. The suspect then fled on Thursday, 5 August 2021, to his brother’s place in Kuruman, Northern Cape. The suspect allegedly informed his brother about the incident. The matter was eventually reported to the brother’s landlord and the police in Kuruman leading to the discovery of the victim’s body. The suspect was then arrested and taken to Ganyesa where he is expected to appear in the local Magistrates’ Court.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, condemned the brutal murder of the young lady who was killed during Women’s Month by someone who was supposed to protect her. He congratulated the police in Kuruman and Ganyesa for their teamwork which resulted in the arrest.

Kwanobuhle detectives arrest gender based violence suspect

Members from the South African Police Service in Gqeberha are unwavering in their commitment to bring gender based violence perpetrators to book.

A 54-year-old attempted murder suspect was arrested soon after the complainant opened a case today, 9 August 2021. It is alleged that on Saturday, 7 August 2021 at about 23:30, the complainant and a friend were inside her residence in Khama Street, Kwanobuhle when she heard a knock on the door. The complainant immediately recognised her boyfriend’s voice and told him that she was not going to open the door as it was late. It is further alleged that her boyfriend broke a window and entered the house. The complainant was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend with an axe. The victim sustained several lacerations to her head, face and body and was taken for medical attention. SAPS Kwanobuhle detectives arrested the suspect at 11:00 this morning at his house in Kwanobuhle.

The suspect is due to appear in the Kwanobuhle Magistrates’ court tomorrow, Tuesday, 10 August 2021 on a charge of attempted murder.

Police track down and arrest business robbery suspects

FLAGSTAFF – In a joint operation between SAPS Flagstaff Crime Prevention members, Public Order Policing in Lusikisiki, Stock Theft Unit and K9 members, two suspects were arrested on Friday, 6 August 2021 for the alleged robbery at a hardware store in Main Road, Flagstaff.

Information led police to Esgubudweni location, Flagstaff where they spotted a silver/grey Toyota Hilux cab with two occupants fitting the description of some of the suspects who allegedly committed the business robbery. The vehicle was pulled over, searched and some of the stolen items recovered. A substantial amount of cash was also taken in the robbery.

The two suspects aged between 29 and 40 were arrested and detained. The 40-year-old suspect was charged for business robbery and illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition while the 29-year-old was charged for business robbery and illegal possession of ammunition.

Both suspects will appear in the Flagstaff magistrate court on Tuesday 10 August 2021.

Police probe murder of woman (35) in Addo

SARAH BAARTMAN – SAPS Addo detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in tracking the suspect (s) and tracing the next of kin of a Lesotho national (woman), who was fatally stabbed in Addo last night, 7 August 2021.

On Saturday evening, 7 August 2021 at about 19:30, police were summoned to a house in Notshoba Street, Nomathamsanqa (Addo), after the landlady found one of her tenants lying dead outside her flat with stab wounds in the upper body. It is said that the 35-year-old Lesotho national was sharing a flat with her boyfriend (also a Lesotho national), who has since disappeared.

A case of murder is under investigation, and anyone who can assist in the investigation is requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Gert Loyd on 063 965 3147 or Crime Stop 08600 10111 or the nearest police station. All information is strictly confidential.

Suspect to appear in court facing charges of incitement to commit arson and murder

PRETORIA – A 45-year-old suspect will be appearing in the Vereeniging Magistrates court facing charges of incitement to commit arson and murder following his arrest on Friday, 6 August 2021.

The suspect was apprehended during an operation where a search warrant was being executed at Ironsyde in De Deur, South of Johannesburg. The operation was conducted by the members of the team of Crimes Against the State (CATS) team within the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation. They were supported by the members of the SAPS National Intervention Unit, and Digital Forensic Laboratory experts of the Hawks.

This arrest comes few days after the Hawks have arrested Crispin Bethwell Sibongiseni Sikhakhane @ Nkinga on 3 August 2021 in Johannesburg. He appeared at Randburg Court where he was released on R3000 bail.

The National Head of the DPCI, Lieutenant General Lebeya appreciate the information that continue to flow from the public and encourages others to similarly provide the information that will help in identifying and tracing other instigators.

Search on for rape suspect in Mdantsane

MDANTSANE – Mdantsane Family violence, Child protection and Sexual Offences unit (FCS) are investigating a case of rape following the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl at NU7, Sports field, Mdantsane yesterday, 7 August 2021 at about 18:20.

The minor was with her friends at NU7 Sports field. She had an argument with her friends and she decided to sit alone. The suspect approached her and offered to buy her liquor and juice. The suspect then raped her.

Police would like to urge anyone who might be able to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Sizeka Mangesi of Mdantsane FCS unit on 071 609 1788 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
