Five stock thieves nabbed with stolen cattle

DURBAN – The operations in the fight against stock theft in the province are still on-going.

This was followed by a multi-disciplinary operation that was conducted yesterday at Utrecht by the Zululand and Amajuba Stock Theft Task Team. The team was following up information regarding the cattle that were stolen at a farm in Utrecht. At total of 24 stolen cattle were found at the suspect’s homes in Utrecht.

The stolen cattle were positively identified by the lawful owner. It is alleged that the cattle were stolen earlier this year on different occasions at a farm in Utrecht. Five suspects aged between 31 and 44 were placed under arrest for stock theft yesterday after they were found in possession of stolen cattle. The suspects will appear before the Utrecht Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Dismissal of Major General Jeremy Veary confirmed

PRETORIA – In light of the huge media and public interest in the matter of Major General Jeremy Veary, the South African Police Service can confirm that a sanction of dismissal imposed on the Major General was endorsed by the National Commisnsioner of the South African Police Service on Friday, 28 May 2021.

General Veary was subjected to a disciplinary process following social media posts he made of messages and images between late last year and, earlier this year and caused the same to be circulated via the social media network.

Some of the messages were directed at the National Commissioner and contained words that were considered derogatory, offensive, insulting and disrespectful to the National Commissioner thus bringing the National Commissioner and the South African Police Service into disrepute.

These actions were considered a misconduct in terms of the SAPS Disciplinary Regulations and therefore warranted a departmental action.

Police seek identity of murdered woman: Gqeberha

GQEBERHA – Detectives at SAPS Bethelsdorp are urgently seeking the community’s assistance in tracing the next of kin and identifying the body of a female, found murdered this morning, in Booysens Park.

It is alleged that at about 06:50, the body of an unknown female was found by a passer-by in Nooigedaght Street in Booysens Park. The woman sustained two stab wounds (in the neck and cheek).

The motive and circumstances surrounding the murder is unknown at this stage. No arrest has been made. Police are investigating a case of murder.

The deceased is an african female between the ages of 19 and 23 years old. She was wearing a peach/pink jersey, black takkies and a grey skirt.
