Cabinet Extends Well Wishes to Class of 2025 as NSC Exams Near


Pretoria: The Cabinet has sent its well wishes to the Class of 2025, who are gearing up for the National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations set to begin on 21 October 2025. Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, acknowledged the dedication of teachers, parents, and guardians, highlighting their crucial role in supporting learners to excel.



According to South African Government News Agency, quality assurance body Umalusi has expressed full confidence in the country’s examination system. Umalusi’s audit report noted that over one million candidates are registered for various national examinations this year, with more than 900,000 learners set to write the NSC exams under the Department of Basic Education.



Of the registered candidates, 766,543 are full-time, while 137,018 are part-time candidates seeking to improve their previous results. In the Western Cape, 77,442 candidates are preparing to sit for the examinations, as reported by the province’s MEC for Education, David Maynier.



In a related development, the Minister of Basic Education, Siviwe Gwarube, is set to lead the NSC Pledge Signing Ceremony with the Matric Class of 2025 at Harry Gwala High School. This event is scheduled for Friday in Khayelitsha, Western Cape.
