Cabinet Raises Alarm Over Misinformation Campaigns by Solidariteit and AfriForum

Pretoria: Cabinet has expressed concern over the ‘continuing misinformation campaigns by Solidariteit and AfriForum and their allies’. This follows recent visits by AfriForum and Solidarity to the United States. Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni announced during a media briefing in Pretoria that law enforcement agencies are investigating these violations of South African laws.

According to South African Government News Agency, the South African Police Service (SAPS) held a meeting with AfriForum to address allegations of white genocide in the context of farm murders. During the meeting, AfriForum acknowledged the accuracy of the crime statistics released by the Minister of Police, including those related to farm murders. Ntshavheni highlighted that it is widely known that some farm murders are committed by individuals known to the farmers, including family members.

The Minister also briefed the media on the outcomes of the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. She addressed a false claim regarding approximately 72,000 white farmers allegedly signing up to relocate to the USA in response to an invitation by the US President. Citing data from Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), Ntshavheni clarified that South Africa has only 41,122 farming units, indicating that the number of commercial white farmers does not exceed this figure.
