Pretoria: Members of the public have been invited to nominate suitable persons for consideration for appointment to the Board of the South African National Parks (SANParks). The board members will be selected based on their collective knowledge and experience, which are essential for achieving the objectives of SANParks.

According to South African Government News Agency, the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Dr. Dion George, emphasized that nominated candidates must possess suitable experience or expertise in fields such as biodiversity management, conservation, protected areas management, tourism development, stakeholder management, corporate governance, strategic leadership and management, community development, marketing, legal and regulatory compliance, audit and risk, financial management (chartered accountant), information and communication technology, and human resource management.

The appointees will serve in their personal capacities and are expected to broadly represent South African society. The tenure for the board members is set for three years, starting from 1 October 2025 and concluding on 30 September 2028. Nominations must include a comprehensive curriculum vitae detailing personal information, qualifications, expertise, addresses, contact numbers, copies of academic qualifications, board service history, and references. Additionally, confirmation of the nominee’s availability is required, with a preference for candidates who will enhance representativity.
