Lenasia: Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD), Sindiswa Chikunga, is expected to launch the Disability Rights Awareness Month (DRAM) 2024 in Lenasia on Monday. DRAM is observed annually from 3 November to 10 December, with the final day recognized as both International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the National Disability Rights Awareness Day.
According to South African Government News Agency, this year’s theme for the month is ‘Celebrating 30 Years of Democracy: Creating a Disability-Inclusive Society for a Better Quality of Life and Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities’. The theme emphasizes South Africa’s collective commitment to advancing rights and inclusivity for persons with disabilities. The weekly themes for DRAM 2024 are centered on inclusive growth and job creation, advocating for the inclusion of children with disabilities, building a capable and ethical State, and fostering safer communities.
