Pretoria: Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Sihle Zikalala is set to inaugurate the Construction and Built Environment Stakeholder Forum and Expo in Pretoria on Tuesday. The event aims to delve into the adoption of new technology to maintain the industry’s competitiveness and adaptability in response to climate changes.
According to South African Government News Agency, the country is currently facing challenges related to construction site safety and the risks posed by adverse weather conditions on properties, humans, and building systems. There is an urgent need for innovative construction and building methods to enhance safety and improve the sector’s overall effectiveness.
The forum’s theme, ‘Building Stronger Partnership for Sustainable Innovation,’ underscores the importance of collaboration for progress. The Building and Construction Expo, organized by Agrement South Africa (ASA), will focus on technology. ASA, a part of the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure, was established to be the leading regulator of non-standardized construction products and systems in South Africa.
The event, which will bring together construction and built environment professionals and associations, will offer a platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, discuss challenges, and explore opportunities in adopting innovative building technologies. These discussions aim to boost the industry’s competitiveness and safety. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view some of the innovative technology options on display during the engagement.
