Pretoria: Deputy President Paul Mashatile is set to host French President Emmanuel Macron to honor French citizens who contributed to the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa. This event will take place ahead of the G20 Leaders' Summit, which is scheduled for the weekend.
According to South African Government News Agency, President Macron's visit coincides with his participation in the Group of Twenty (G20) Leaders' Summit on November 22-23. The summit will focus on the theme 'Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability'. This visit also underscores the strong bilateral, political, and economic relations between South Africa and France, which encompass areas like trade and industry, defense, science and technology, energy, education, transport, and arts and culture.
The wreath-laying ceremony, planned for Friday, will be held at the Freedom Park Heritage Site and Museum in Pretoria. The event follows a recent successful visit by South African officials to France, which aimed to enhance the already warm relations between the two nations. This visit helped to expand existing cooperation projects, mobilize investments, and identify new areas of cooperation, particularly in trade and investment.
