Johannesburg: H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, the Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, is currently attending significant international gatherings in South Africa. She is representing the Arab Republic of Egypt at the 4th meeting of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG) and the G20 Development Ministerial Meeting. These meetings, organized under South Africa's G20 Presidency with the theme "Solidarity, Sustainability, and Equality," see the participation of representatives from G20 nations as well as various government and organizational stakeholders.
According to African Press Organization, the meetings focus on tackling several critical issues, including the foundational principles of global public goods and public investment. Discussions also center on mechanisms for mobilizing development financing and exploring effective implementation strategies. A particular emphasis is placed on enhancing global resilience through comprehensive social protection measures. Additionally, the meetings review the outcomes of the recent 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, which took place in Seville, Spain.
Dr. Rania Al-Mashat is also taking part in the First Global Ministerial Meeting for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), organized by the United Nations International Trade Centre (ITC). This meeting coincides with the G20 events in South Africa and aims to establish strategic global partnerships. The focus is on enhancing trade, technology, and investment opportunities for SMEs to accelerate their growth and facilitate their integration into global markets.
