Makwane: The Thabo Mofutsanyana District disruptive operation yielded positive results following the arrest of two suspects found in possession of suspected stolen property and an undisclosed amount of cash inside their car.
According to South African Police Service, on Friday, 3 January 2025, at approximately 22:30, the police were conducting disruptive operations at the Makwane policing precinct, performing vehicle checkpoints on the main road of Makwane Village near the filling station. They stopped a red Mini Cooper vehicle with an FS registration number with two occupants inside. The driver, upon being stopped, got out of the vehicle trying to flee but was caught and brought back to his vehicle with his girlfriend on the passenger seat.
The car was physically inspected and searched; police found two small black bags containing 36 bank cards, 35 receipts, and in another bag was an undisclosed amount of money withdrawn from various ATM banks. It is suspected that the cards are from the post offices. All items were seized, and a case of possession of suspected stolen property is being investigated.
The two suspects are expected to appear before the Makwane Magistrate Court on Monday, 6 January 2025, facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
