VRYBURG: Vryburg police have detained two individuals following the discovery of suspected stolen property and ammunition in their possession, highlighting the effectiveness of local community patrols.
According to South African Police Service, the arrest occurred after Community in Blue patrollers, conducting routine surveillance in the Central Business District, noticed two men behaving suspiciously at the intersection of De Kock and Market Streets. The incident took place on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at approximately 14:20. Upon searching one suspect’s school bag, patrollers discovered various bank cards, identity documents, four Point of Sale machines, cellular phones, a 9mm round of ammunition, and a toy gun.
Police were summoned to the scene, and following the suspects’ inability to provide a credible explanation for the origin of the items, they were taken into custody. Both suspects, aged 34, are scheduled to appear in Vryburg Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, January 2, 2025, facing charges related to the possession of suspected stolen property and ammunition. The investigation remains ongoing.
