Ouagadougou: The Appeals Commission of the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF) validated the candidacy of Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo, rejecting the appeal for validation of the file of Customs inspector Ali Guissou and invalidating the candidacy of former Burkinabè international Jonathan Pitroipa.
After the work of the Electoral Commission on July 25, which validated the candidacy files for the presidency of the FBF, of Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo and that of Jonathan Pitroipa, but invalidating the Ali Guissou file, several appeals were made.
Ali Guissou’s counsel had formulated several appeals including a request for annulment of the invalidation of their client’s file and attacked the files of Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo and that of Jonathan Pitroipa. The Appeals Commission, after analysis at its hearing on July 31, ‘rejects the request for annulment of the decision of the Electoral Commission validating the candidacy and the list of Mr. Oumarou Sawadogo’. The commission also rejected ‘the reque
st for validation of the candidacy of Mr. Ali Guissou’.
The Appeals Commission declared ‘the request for annulment of the decision validating the candidacy and the list of Mr. Jonathan Pitroipa irrelevant’.
The Guissou Councils would not have justified their appeal by the payment of 75,000 FCFA as costs for confirming their appeal.
In addition to the fact that the Electoral Commission had already invalidated Guissou’s file for withdrawal of a member, Oumarou Sawadogo’s councils also appealed on “the lack of transparency of the FIFA (International Football Federation) integrity form.” football association: editor’s note” by Ali Guissou and one of the members on his list, namely, the president of the football section of the EFO Assami Rouamba.
A legal case is in progress on the first cited while the second had already been the subject of a conviction in 2018. These different situations mean that these two people are not eligible
Pitroipa’s file was invalidated because one of the members of his list (Sinaré
Ousmane) withdrew or resigned.
It is therefore the only candidacy of retired Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo which has been validated by the Electoral Commission and confirmed by the Appeals Commission for the race for the presidency of the FBF on August 31.
