Ermelo: A 41-year-old woman was arrested by the police on Saturday, 05 January 2025, in Ermelo after being found in possession of drugs.
According to South African Police Service, the arrest followed intelligence-driven information received by the multidisciplinary teams of Operation Vala Umgodi. The information indicated that a house in Ermelo was involved in drug selling and other related activities, with a female suspect orchestrating the operations. After obtaining a search warrant, members moved to the premises to act on the information.
During the search of the house and surrounding premises, a bag containing various drugs, including dagga, suspected mandrax, and cocaine, was discovered. The drugs have an estimated value of about R15,000. Additionally, the officers found approximately R3,827 in cash inside one of the rooms.
The woman has been charged with dealing in drugs and is scheduled to appear at Ermelo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 06 January 2025.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, praised the officers for the arrest, emphasizing that it is a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking.
