Francois Robinson appointed RERA interim ED


WINDHOEK: The Regional Energy Regulators Association of Southern Africa ( RERA ) has appointed Francois Robinson as the interim Executive Director for six months , replacing Elijah Sichone . Sichone served in the position for 19 years . The announcement was made on Wednesday , by Electricity Control Board ( ECB ) Chief Executive Officer Robert Kahimise at a press conference . At the same event , Motlatsi Ramafole , who is Chief Executive Officer of the Lesotho Electricity and Water Authority handed over his chairmanship to Skhumbuzo Tsabedze , the Chief Executive Officer of the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority . Robinson , according to Tsabedze serves in various capacities in the economic , technical and legal services at the ECB as well as at the African Forum of Utility Regulators ( AFUR ). ‘ His deep understanding of the regulatory environment will be invaluable as RERA strives to maintain a credible and leading regulatory organisation internationally , and to advance harmonisation of the Southern Afri
can Development Community ( SADC ) energy regulatory environment for the development of a sustainable regional energy market ,’ Tsabedze added .
