Free Access to South African National Parks During SA National Parks Week

Pretoria: The South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced that 21 national parks will offer free access to visitors for a week in September. This initiative is part of the 20th annual SA National Parks Week, which aims to foster pride in South Africa's natural, cultural, and historical heritage.

According to South African Government News Agency, the week-long event will commence with a celebratory gathering at Kruger National Park on 21 September 2025. The main event will be held from 22 to 26 September, with the free access period extended to 27 and 28 September at selected parks. SANParks has clarified that while entry to the parks will be free, accommodation facilities and other tourist activities will not be included in this offer.

SA National Parks Week has been attracting a significant number of day visitors to the participating parks since its inception in 2006. The campaign has been successful in promoting education and awareness about South Africa's approach to conservation. It highlights the importance of sustainable development practices achieved through collaborations with local communities, businesses, scientists, and tourists.
