Gauteng Province Excellence Awards 2024 Honors Outstanding Police Service.


Krugersdorp: The South African Police Service (SAPS) Gauteng Provincial Excellence Awards ceremony took place at the Usambara Venue in Krugersdorp on 08 November 2024. The event celebrated the dedication, professionalism, and outstanding performance of its members within the province. Hosted by the Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the awards recognized those who strive to promote excellence and quality service.

According to South African Police Service, the Acting Deputy National Commissioner: Support Services, Lieutenant General Lineo Nkhuoa, acknowledged the exceptional efforts of the police members in her address. She highlighted the extra mile that members go to protect the Gauteng community, which is reflected in their outstanding results. Lieutenant General Nkhuoa also commended the province’s recognition since 2019 with the implementation of operation O Kae Molao, leading to the National High Density Operations.

Lieutenant General Mthombeni deliver
ed the keynote address, expressing gratitude towards senior management retirees for the 2023/2024 period, including Major General Max Masha, Major General Fred Kekana, Brigadier Stanley Nevhuhulwi, and Brigadier Miranda Theron. He further appreciated the excellence awards nominees, acknowledging their hard work in maintaining community safety and security.

The awards were divided into various categories, recognizing individual and team achievements. In the Administration category, Ms. E Molete from Johannesburg Central and Mr. TA Mabusela from Tshwane District Human Resource Management were among the winners. The Administration Team of the Year was led by Lieutenant Colonel Stoltz and team from PHO Gauteng: TMS Diverse Communication.

Visible Policing and Operations awards recognized Sergeant L Mudzuli from Reiger Park and Colonel D Paulus from PHO Gauteng: FLASH. The team award in this category went to Lieutenant Colonel AJ Lamprecht and members from SAPS Honeydew.

In the Detective and Forensic Services ca
tegory, Sergeant GJD Lauren’s from Nigel and Captain VA Saunders from PHO Gauteng: Taxi Violence were acknowledged, with the team award going to Lieutenant Colonel RK Selebano and members from Tshwane District FCS.

Special awards included Senior Operational Manager of the Year awarded to Brigadier P Zulu, and SAPS Alberton was named Station of the Year. Other individual awards highlighted the contributions of Sergeant NE Mohlakoana as Woman of the Year and Constable ET Malala as Man of the Year, among others.

The Provincial Commissioner expressed gratitude to all the sponsors for their contributions, including gifts, certificates, and trophies for the recipients.
