George Detectives Seek Public Assistance to Identify Deceased Individuals


Cape Town: Detectives attached to Conville and Thembalethu police stations in George are seeking the assistance of the public to trace the next of kin of two unidentified deceased.



According to South African Police Service, on Saturday, 21 December 2024, at 16:25, police were dispatched to a scene along the N2 highway near the turnoff to Pacaltsdorp where a pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle. The injured man, believed to be in his mid-twenties and weighing 55 kilograms, succumbed to multiple injuries later in the hospital. He was dressed in a yellow shirt and green trousers at the time of the incident. A culpable homicide docket was opened for further investigation.



Authorities are urging anyone with information that could assist the police to contact the investigation officer, Constable Thandiwe Plaatjie, at the Conville Detectives at 044 803 3347 or 083 579 5908.



In an unrelated case, Thembalethu police opened an inquest docket after the body of a man was discovered in an open field near the Thembalethu Primary School on 07 December 2024 at about 13:40. A post-mortem examination has been conducted, and no foul play is suspected. The man was wearing a white shirt and black pants when found.
