Grassy Park: The determination of police members deployed in Grassy Park to rid the community of people who are unlawfully in possession of firearms and ammunition paid off when they detained an adult male on Friday 21 February 2025.
According to South African Police Service, the police members pursued information of a firearm hidden at an address in Ottery. The members approached the residence in Grey Land Road at about 18:45 upon which a search ensued. Their attention was drawn to a man hiding in the ceiling. The police members removed the man upon which he indicated to them to open a cupboard, which led to the recovery of a firearm with ammunition. The man could not produce a valid licence to be in possession of the mentioned firearm which resulted in the detention of the adult male for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
Once charged, the suspect is expected to make a court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ court on the mentioned charge.
