Hlabisa to Visit AmaMpondomise King Matiwane for Traditional Governance Discussions


Qumbu: The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), Velenkosini Hlabisa, along with his Deputy, Prince Zolile Burns-Ncamashe, is set to visit His Majesty King Zwelozuko Matiwane of the AmaMpondomise Kingship. The visit is scheduled for Monday, 20 October 2025.



According to South African Government News Agency, this visit comes in response to a request from King Matiwane to engage with the ministry. The central focus of the discussions will be the reconstitution of Traditional Councils within the AmaMpondomise Kingship and addressing significant issues influencing traditional governance and leadership in the area.



This engagement is part of CoGTA’s ongoing efforts to reinforce partnerships with traditional leadership bodies. The goal is to ensure the establishment and functionality of traditional governance structures in line with the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act.



The meeting is set to take place at AmaMpondomise Great Place, Upper Kroza, Qumbu, Eastern Cape, beginning at 9 am.
