Windhoek: The Ministry of Home Affairs , Immigration , Safety and Security scooped two awards for their outstanding service delivery at the 2024 Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Show that ended on Saturday . The ministry was recognised for issuing national documents to the public including identity cards ( IDs ) within 48 hours . Chief Public Relations Officer of the ministry , Magaret Kalo said that during the week – long Windhoek Show , applicants no longer had to wait for two months to receive their documents . Kalo said that 838 applicants received their IDs at the ministry ‘ s exhibition stand , adding that the ministry ‘ s enhanced services and its convenient location at the showgrounds were highlighted as the reasons for the increased demand . She said that using modern technology and keeping specialised staff members to manage printing and verifications allowed the ministry to optimise service delivery and improve operational efficiency . ‘ Business process re – engineering has been instrumental i
n cutting down on the time required to process and issue IDs .’ The ministry issued 230 birth registrations , 355 passports and two citizenship applications , among others . The ministry received the Gold Diploma for the indoor category and the Best Service Provider award for the second year in a row at the Windhoek Industrial and Agricultural Show . ‘ We are here because of the public , and this recognition demonstrates our commitment to providing them with excellent service ,’ Kalo stated.
