Human Remains Identified as Missing Journalist and Partner

Limpopo: The South African Police Service has confirmed that the human remains found in Limpopo are that of missing journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner Zodwa Mdhluli. The identification concludes a months-long investigation into the disappearance of the couple, who had been missing since February 18, 2025.

According to South African Government News Agency, the SAPS concluded extensive tests and analysis of remains found in Rust De Winter. A DNA analysis positively linked the remains to Ndlovu and Mdhluli. The remains were matched with reference samples from the biological relatives of the deceased, confirming their identities.

The families of Ndlovu and Mdhluli have been notified of the findings. The police revealed that several suspects arrested in connection with the case are currently appearing before the KwaMhlanga Magistrate’s Court. The charges against them include kidnapping, house robbery, and possession of stolen property.

Last month, following a thorough investigation by a multi-disciplinary team, the police discovered the bodies. In a statement, SAPS National Commissioner General Fannie Masemola expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation, which was pivotal in the investigation. The SAPS had earlier issued an alert seeking public assistance to trace two outstanding suspects.
