IDAC Dismisses Lieutenant-General Mkhwanazi’s Arrest Warrant ‘Rumours’

Durban: The Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) has dismissed claims that a warrant of arrest has been issued for the arrest of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. The IDAC has categorically denied the existence of any such warrant, labeling the information as false and treating it with the contempt it deserves.

According to South African Government News Agency, the IDAC expressed concern over the rumours and inquiries surrounding a purported J50 warrant of arrest for Lieutenant-General Mkhwanazi. The agency emphasized that these rumors are likely intended to disrupt and distract the work of IDAC, as well as interfere with the responsibilities that General Mkhwanazi is fulfilling in combating crime.

The directorate has issued a warning against the dissemination of inaccurate information and urged the public to remain vigilant. 'Members of society are urged to be vigilant against false information circulated in social media platforms, aimed at destabilising and discrediting law enforcement in the country,' the IDAC added.
