Intelligence led information resulted into the seizure of copper cable, bakkie and one arrest effected

Members of Odendaalsrus SAPS were reporting off duty when a suspicious white bakkie was stopped.

On the 17 July 2021 at about 07:20 members of Odendaalsrus SAPS were reporting off duty and traveling from Odendaalsrus to Welkom.

They were traveling in State way Welkom, when they received information about a vehicle suspected to be transporting stolen goods. This white Nissan bakkie was identified in Stateway and when members approached it, three African males fled from the scene towards the nearby bushes. One of them, a 31-year-old male from Bronville was arrested.

While members were searching the vehicle, copper cable with estimated value to R500 000, implements used to commit crime were seized. The suspect will be facing possession of suspected stolen copper cable, house breaking implements and road traffic act, the registration number and Disk were not corresponding.

Members applauded for a job well done by the Provincial Commissioner of Free State, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane.
