Johannesburg: An intelligence-driven operation, with assistance from members attached to Whittlesea detectives and the Tactical Response Unit (TRT), has resulted in the arrest of two suspects in connection with the murder of SAPS Admin Clerk Bongiwe Rhamncwana. This operation took place on Thursday, 31 July 2025.
According to South African Police Service, Admin Clerk Rhamncwana was tragically shot and killed in her home in Sada on Friday, 18 July 2025, by unknown assailants. The investigation team, acting on information, tracked down and arrested a 36-year-old female suspect in Ngangelizwe Township, Mthatha. A thorough investigation led police to Chris Hani Township, also in Mthatha, where they apprehended a 30-year-old male suspect involved in the shooting. During the operation, police confiscated a hired vehicle allegedly used in the crime for further examination. The investigation remains ongoing.
Both suspects have been formally charged with murder and are scheduled to appear before the Whittlesea Magistrate Court on Monday, 4 August 2025. Chris Hani District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph praised the team's prompt action in bringing the suspects to justice.
