Ishitile misses out on spot in the final


T11 female Paralympic sprinter Lahja Ishitile and her guide Sem Shimanda on Monday missed out on a spot in the final of the T11 100m race at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games . Ishitle was the only Namibian athlete to compete on day four of the track and field events at the Stade de France in Paris . The Namibian sprinter reached the semi – final of the 100m racr on Monday after finishing second in heat one with an African record time of 12 . 12 seconds . In the semi – final , the Namibian sprinter once again finished second behind Brazil ‘ s Lorena Spoladore Silva and her guide , Renato Ben Hur Oliveira Costa , who won heat one with a season ‘ s best time of 12 . 07 seconds . In the T11 100m event , heat two produced the best time , and saw three athletes advancing to the final , which will be held Tuesday evening . Brazilian sprinter Jerusa dos Santos Geber and her guide , Gabriel Garcia dos Santos , set a world record with the fastest time of 11 . 80 seconds followed by Cuiqing Liu of China and her guide Sh
engming Chen in second place with a time of 12 . 06 seconds . Like Ishitile , Venezuela ‘ s Linda Patricia Perez Lopez and her guide Alvaro Luis Herrera Cassiani also clocked 12 . 19 seconds , but progressed to the next round by milliseconds . Day five of the championships will see Petrus Karuli competing in the T37 400m heats at 11h23 Namibian time . Team Namibia has won a gold medal at the championships through T11 female sprinter Ishitile and her guide Shimanda . At the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games , Team Namibia returned with two medals – one silver and one bronze won by Ananias Shikongo and Johannes Nambala , respectively .
