Joburg Water Systems Back to Normal After Rand Water Maintenance

Johannesburg: The City of Johannesburg's water systems have returned to normal operations and are supplying water as usual following the completion of the third and final phase of maintenance by Rand Water.

According to South African Government News Agency, the 54-hour maintenance operation began on Tuesday, necessitating a temporary shutdown of water services in specific parts of the city. Johannesburg Water announced that while the feed for the Braamfischerville Reservoir has resumed normal operations and is supplying adequately, the Meadowlands Reservoir is also functioning normally. However, the direct feed has not yet fully recovered, as full restoration in certain areas may take longer.

Additionally, the Doornkop Reservoir direct feed has returned to normal, the Fleurhof Reservoir is supplying adequately, and the Roodepoort Deep direct feed is now operating normally. Johannesburg Water has stated that they will monitor the restoration phase closely and address any airlocks that may occur.
