Kisumu County has been nominated to host the 24th World Talent Conference in August 2025, marking the first-ever occurrence of the prestigious event in Africa.
Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o announced the upcoming summit during a courtesy call by the delegation from the World Talent Federation to the Lakeside County.
Prof. Nyong’o emphasized the significance of the biannual event, which is expected to attract over 15,000 delegates from across the globe.
‘Kisumu and Africa must prepare to receive the top world and African athletes, footballers, film actors, musicians, artists, and many more. This collaboration requires the support of counties within the Lake Region Economic Bloc,’ he said.
Highlighting Kisumu’s readiness to host the event, the Governor emphasized the significance of collaboration between counties within the Lake Region Economic Bloc, including Kakamega, Vihiga, and Siaya, to accommodate the expected visitors.
‘Already, a renowned U.K. Premier League footballer and top U.S.A. pop musicians have
shown interest in attending, adding to the excitement surrounding the event,’ Nyong’o said.
The governor noted that during the conference, researchers will showcase thought-provoking designs at World Talent Federation-approved talent clinics and pointed out that this cutting-edge technology allows predicting a child’s career from an early age.
He acknowledged the World Talent Federation’s donation of 29 biometric kits worth Sh38 million, with six deployed in Kenya (Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret and Meru counties.
Professor Nyong’o underscored the importance of marketing Kisumu City as a world tourist destination ahead of the forthcoming conference.
‘Kisumu is ready for the World Talent Conference next year and we want tourists to know early so they can be part of the success of this event,’ he added.

Dr. Peter Smith, Vice President of the World Talent Federation, emphasized the transformative potential of the conference to the local industry.
