Kruger National Park: With holidaymakers anticipated to flock to Kruger National Park over the Easter long weekend, the South African National Parks (SANParks) is urging visitors to secure their bookings in advance through online platforms. The park expects a surge in visitor numbers as families seek relaxation in nature during the long weekend spanning from Friday, April 18 to Monday, April 21, 2025.
According to South African Government News Agency, SANParks has announced the implementation of gate quotas during this period, advising visitors to book online ahead of their visit. Plans are in place for increased visibility of traffic officials and visitor management personnel to monitor speeding, after-hours traveling, and general road behavior. Visitors are encouraged to cooperate with officials and report any inappropriate behavior to gate officials or through the emergency call center number provided on entry permits.
The park emphasizes the importance of adhering to operational times concerning gate quotas, which are divided into three time slots: 6 – 8 am, 8 – 10 am, and 10 am onwards. Motorists with temporary number plates must present documentation at the gates, as vehicles with missing number plates will be prohibited from entering or exiting the park.
Vehicles found within the park without number plates will be impounded, and drivers will face charges under the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, Act No. 57, 2003, along with a fine. SANParks has committed to deploying Ranger Services, Environmental Crime Investigations and Protection Services Units, and the South African National Defence Force to ensure compliance.
Tourists are reminded not to remove No Entry signs, as such actions can endanger others. Visitors are advised to plan their trips carefully, allowing ample time to enjoy the bush, relax, and arrive safely at their destinations. For the latest information on road closures, visitors should consult camp and gate receptions or visit SANParks’ social media platforms.
