Pretoria: Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi, alongside National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Andy Mothibi, is set to host a media briefing focusing on recent changes at the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).
According to South African Government News Agency, the briefing is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) headquarters. This address comes in the wake of the resignation of former IDAC Head, Advocate Andrea Johnson. The session aims to shed light on the ongoing developments to ensure continuity and stability within the Directorate, as efforts to fill the leadership vacancy are underway.
The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development, along with the NPA, intends to use this briefing to reaffirm their commitment to maintaining IDAC's operational effectiveness. Earlier this week, President Cyril Ramaphosa accepted Advocate Andrea Johnson's request to resign immediately. Johnson's resignation follows scrutiny regarding her role in prosecutorial decisions linked to her testimony at the Madlanga Commission.
