WINDHOEK: Deputy Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations and Employment Creation, Ndemula Hafeni said furthering a policy of labour relations is conducive to economic growth, stability and productivity, by promoting sound labour relations and fair employment practices.

This is one of this government’s top priorities, Hafeni expressed during his keynote speech at the Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on Business Process Re-engineering (BPR) of the Office of the Labour Commissioner (OLC) held in Windhoek on Thursday.

‘Promoting and maintaining the welfare of the people of Namibia is a constitutional commitment,’ said Hafeni.

The OLC and their newly introduced system of dispute resolution, BPR is one of the reform initiatives introduced in public service since 2005, it was revised in 2015 and piloted in five government ministries.

BPR aims to improve service delivery by streamlining business processes, among other things, to shorten the time it takes to deliver a service.

Hafeni further emphasised the key
role stakeholders play in achieving their goals.

‘The ‘As-Is’ process to be present here today will visually outline the OLC conciliation and arbitration process, detailing all the steps taken, highlighting interactions, decision points, and sources of information,’ he said.

The As-Is process mapped where the OLC processes are currently and where they want them to be going forward.

‘We can only achieve this together by taking collective responsibility and seeking practical and sustainable solutions,’ noted Hafeni while encouraging frank and constructive deliberations.
