Hamilton: The upcoming co-location of Water Security Africa and the Energy Intensive Users Group (EIUG) Conference with the Energy Storage Summit at the Maslow Hotel in Johannesburg on November 4-5, 2025, is set to bring together over 300 leaders from various sectors. This strategic alignment aims to address the interconnected challenges of energy volatility, water scarcity, and sustainable growth, providing participants with unique opportunities for cross-sector networking and access to sector-specific content and actionable strategies.
According to African Press Organization, the Water Security Africa event will focus on transforming water risks into competitive advantages through key sessions that include case studies from industry leaders. These sessions will cover topics such as quality control, circular models, and regulatory compliance, providing vital insights into how water issues can be managed effectively to benefit industries.
The EIUG Conference, celebrating its 25th anniversary, will focus on advancing policy discussions, technological innovations, and long-term strategies for industrial sustainability and competitiveness. Highlights of the program include opening addresses by EIUG Chairman Murendeni Matshinyatsimbi and panels on integrated water-energy risk frameworks and market reforms. Additional sessions will explore project spotlights on high-load growth and solar wheeling, debates on small modular reactors and gas as a transitional fuel, and a symposium on the impacts of the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) on sectors like iron, steel, and cement.
Fanele Mondi, CEO of the Energy Intensive Users Group of Southern Africa, emphasized the significance of these co-located events. “These events represent a pivotal moment for South Africa’s commercial and industrial sectors to collaborate on resilient, sustainable solutions that drive economic growth,” Mondi said. “By integrating energy and water agendas, we’re equipping leaders with the tools to navigate volatility and unlock new opportunities.”
The events will also feature dedicated networking forums and exhibits designed to foster partnerships that accelerate projects in renewable energy, storage, and water infrastructure.
