Livestock Thieves Sought After Six Goats Stolen From Kraal

Beaufort Levubu: A 34-year-old complainant reported to the local police station that six goats, valued at R12,000, were stolen from a kraal on his plot in Beaufort Levubu. The theft occurred between January 24 and January 25, 2025, around 05:45.

According to South African Police Service, the complainant ensured that all gates were locked on the night of Friday, January 24, 2025, at about 21:35. However, upon waking the next morning, he discovered that unknown individuals had gained access by cutting through the fence and stealing the livestock. A black plier was found on the ground near the fence, suggesting its use in the crime.

The goats did not have any brand marks, and a case of stock theft has been registered for further investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information that could assist in tracing the suspects to contact the Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit via the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or the MySAPS App anonymously.

Livestock owners are advised to comply with the Animal Identification Act by marking their animals, which can help reduce stock theft and facilitate the recovery of stolen livestock. Regular counting of livestock and employing a shepherd to oversee and protect them are also recommended measures.
