The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region have opened a case of rape and robbery against two boys aged 19 and 14 years after they allegedly assaulted, robbed and raped a 52-year-old man at Oneputa village.
According to the region’s crime investigations coordinator Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo on Sunday, the incident happened on Tuesday, 06 August 2024 around 21h00 at Oneputa village in the Oniipa Constituency.
The victim resides at Oneputa B village and he sustained injuries on one hand, his face and back but was not admitted to the hospital as he is in stable condition, Ekandjo said.
A case of rape and robbery with aggravating circumstances has been opened against the boys who are in Grade 8 and Grade 7 respectively.
‘It is alleged that the victim was walking from a cuca shop on his way home and was followed by two male suspects who were also at the same cuca shop,’ reported Ekandjo.
He said the suspects demanded money from the victim while assaulting him by kicking and whipping hi
m with a mopane stick all over his body until the victim surrendered all the money (N.dollars 70) he had in his pockets.
‘While the victim was lying down on the ground helplessly due to the assault, the suspects removed his belt from his waist by cutting it off with a knife and undressed him, and had anal sexual intercourse with him without his consent,’ Ekandjo said.
The scene was visited when the case was reported and the victim’s shoes, trousers, two pieces of his belt, and a used condom were found at the scene and have been properly collected as evidence.
The suspects were arrested but the 14-year-old minor was set to be released under the care of his guardians.
The suspects are expected to appear at the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Monday while the investigation continues.
