The Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshikoto Region have arrested a 35-year-old man for reportedly bribing an investigating officer with N.dollars 500 after he was involved in an accident.
According to the region’s Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo, the accident occurred around 18h00 on Monday at Onamulunga village in the Oniipa Constituency.
It is alleged that two members of the crime investigation unit attended to an accident involving a silver Nissan and an unlicensed blue Ford pick-up. The drivers were informed to visit the Onethindi Police Station the next morning for the completion of the accident report and possible traffic fines.
On Tuesday at about 09h46, the driver of the Ford pick-up allegedly started sending text messages to one of the investigating officers with a proposal to offer a bribe in exchange for not getting a traffic fine or being charged.

igating officer. The operation was successful and the suspect was apprehended while attempting to hand over the cash to the investigating officer.
The suspect was charged with bribery, driving an unlicensed motor vehicle, and failing to carry a driving license.
He was set to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court.
