Man drowns in pond in Omusati Region

A 36-year-old man allegedly drowned in a pond while fishing at Ouhwaala village in the Anamulenge Constituency.

The Namibian Police Force crime investigations coordinator for Omusati, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, told Nampa the incident occurred around 18h30 on Wednesday.

‘It is alleged that the deceased, who was suffering from epilepsy, was fishing in the pond near their house when he fell into the water and drowned,’ he said.

He added that the deceased’s body was discovered by his mother. No foul play is suspected thus far.

The deceased was identified as Shilongo Kilian Shamwene.

The body was transported to the Okahao Police mortuary for an autopsy to be conducted.

Police investigation into the matter continues.
