Manhunt Launched for Attackers of Crime Intelligence Officers in Durban

Durban: Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane has announced that maximum resources have been mobilised to hunt down a group of criminals who attacked two Crime Intelligence officers this afternoon in the Mount Edgecombe area of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The violent incident resulted in the death of one officer and left another critically injured.

According to South African Government News Agency, the officer driving the State vehicle succumbed to the gunshot wounds sustained at the scene. The other officer, who was also shot and wounded, has been airlifted to hospital for urgent medical care. In response to the attack, a comprehensive manhunt has been launched to apprehend the suspects involved in this heinous act.

Specialised units of the South African Police Service (SAPS), including Crime Intelligence operatives, detectives, the organised crime unit, and other highly trained officers, are working tirelessly to track down those responsible. Lieutenant General Dimpane has condemned the attack, labelling it as an assault on the state's authority and on those who risk their lives to combat crime.

SAPS has made it clear that no effort will be spared in bringing the perpetrators to justice. In addition to the manhunt, SAPS has deployed Employee Health and Wellness experts, including psychologists and chaplains, to support the family of the deceased officer and the Crime Intelligence unit with psychosocial services.

The police service has extended its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen officer and expressed hopes for the injured officer's full and speedy recovery.
