Members of the K9 Unit arrested a suspect in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as well as presumed stolen property

Our endeavours to break the back of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition led to an arrest in Nyanga.

Members of the K9 Unit were busy with routine patrols on Wednesday, 29 September 2021 when they arrested a 31-year-old man, moments after he robbed a victim at gunpoint near to Borchard’s Quarry Drive. Upon searching the suspect, he was found in possession of a firearm and a mobile phone.

Once charged he is expected to make a court appearance in the Athlone Magistrate Court on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, possession of presumed stolen property and armed robbery.
