Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola, and Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, will sign a cooperation protocol agreement on Monday, 19 June 2023, to improve Special Investigating Unit’s (SIU) cyber forensic capabilities.

The agreement aims to strengthen the relationship between South Africa and France in capacitating the SIU on cyberforensic, financial crimes, and analytical skills. It will result in the establishment of an anti-corruption academy in Pretoria.

The Academy will serve members of the SIU and other law enforcement agencies and anti-corruption agencies within SADC Member States, the Commonwealth and Non-Commonwealth countries. This initiative aims to enhance Investigative capabilities and prevention measures and promote anti-corruption and public education.
