Minister Mchunu to visit Lekwa Local Municipality to assess progress in addressing water and sanitation challenges
The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr Senzo Mchunu and his deputies, Mr David Mahlobo and Ms Judith Tshabalala, will on Friday, 09 June 2023 undertake an oversight visit to Lekwa Local Municipality to assess progress on the intervention projects to address water and sanitation challenges and engage community members.
During his visit to the area in July last year, Minister Mchunu committed an amount of R350 million to assist Lekwa Local Municipality to deal with a myriad of water and sanitation challenges. The support by the Department of Water and Sanitation is geared towards refurbishment of the aging infrastructure as well as operations and maintenance to improve provision of services to communities.
Minister Mchunu will use this visit to see for himself how things have improved since his last visit last year and also engage various stakeholders in the area, including community members.
