Chikunga rolls up her sleeves for the 2023 budget vote implementation
Transport Minister, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga will this week set in motion the implementation of the Transport Budget with an oversight visit to the national road Huguenot tunnel and passenger rail Northern Line projects in Cape Town. The oversight visits will happen on 15 May and 16 May respectively
The oversight visits will be a precursor to Chikunga’s maiden Budget Vote tabling to the National Assembly on Wednesday, 17 May 2023 at 14h00 in Cape Town.
Prior to the tabling, Minister Chikunga will brief members of the media on Transport Budget Vote. The media briefing will take place at the Imbizo Media Centre in Parliament at 12pm on 17 May 2023.
The Minister will host the Budget Vote media breakfast to get into the detail of the budget in a panel discussion on 18 May 2023 at 7am.
The Minister’s itinerary for the week ahead is as follows:
Day 1 – Monday, 15 May 2023
Minister Chikunga will inspect SANRAL infrastructure upgrades at the N1 Huguenot Tunnel and N7 Moorreesburg.
Minister Chikunga will engage road users outside the Huguenot Tunnel Toll Plaza.
Time: 08h00 – SANRAL Western Region Office, 1 Havenga Road, Upper Oakdale for departure to N7 and Huguenot Tunnel site visits.
Day 2 – Tuesday, 16 May 2023
Oversight visit of PRASA projects. (rail infrastructure progress and station improvements)
Venue: Belville Train Station
Time: 14h00 (train ride from Bellville to Eeste River on new train set)
