Mkhwanazi Testifies at Madlanga Commission Inquiry into Criminal Syndicate Allegations


Tshwane: The second day of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has begun at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Tshwane. Proceedings opened with the continuation of evidence from KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.



According to South African Government News Agency, the General provided testimony concerning the KwaZulu-Natal Political Killings Task Team and his allegations regarding a criminal syndicate within law enforcement and the criminal justice system. Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Justice and Constitutional Development, Xola Nqola, expressed support for the start of the commission’s proceedings.



Nqola emphasized the importance of resolving procurement issues that initially delayed the hearings. He noted that the swift resolution reflects the government’s commitment to the inquiry process, aiming to ensure a smooth and punctual start. He highlighted the significance of the commission in rebuilding trust in the country’s criminal justice system, extending well-wishes to Justice Madlanga and his team for their work ahead.



The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Criminality, Political Interference, and Corruption in the Criminal Justice System is led by Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga. The hearings are set to continue in Tshwane.
